As a beginner blogger starting out with a niche website would be the best course of action. That is because mainstream topics have a lot of competition, and making money with any investments would be almost impossible.

After that, you need to choose a name for your blog. It needs to be original, easily noticeable, something that people can remember. Ideally, it should be short and catchy, unique on its own. But finding a name like that can be a bit tricky. So, take some time before settling on one.

After all the technicalities out of the way the only thing you now need to do is start posting. Keep posting quality content on a consistent schedule for maximum engagement. It might come as a surprise to you that some blog sites earn upwards of 300 thousand USD every month. Unbelievable, I know, but it is possible. However, it takes a lot of time to earn that much, but you can hope to earn anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand within a few years.
The beginning could be very slow and early on the earnings can be tiny, but if you keep going and upload articles regularly you are bound to make more money in time. It does not matter if you have started free or not. Earning money while doing blogging for free is a very viable thing.
How Do Blogs Make Money?
There are mainly 3 ways blogs, and yes even free blogs, can make money. They are affiliate links, putting ads, and selling your own products. Let’s take a look at all three.
• Affiliate Links
Affiliate links are links on your website to some other site or product. And you get commissions based on how many people visited that site with your link from your website. If you sign up for product affiliate links on websites and have people visit them through posts on your blog, you can expect to earn a fair bit from that.
• Putting Ads
This is fairly simple; you sign up for essentially lending advertising space on your website. Again, depending on your page views, your income will grow. You could put multiple ad spots on your website, but do not go overboard.
• Selling Your Products
This is tricky, and it is not advisable to go for this right from the beginning. You will have to develop your own products, be it a course or a book or something else.
• Drop Shipping
Drop Shipping can also be a great way to earn through your blogs. You can add an eCommerce plugin and display various items on your website that visitors can order. After ordering, you can use the details they provide to ship items to their location using Alibaba or DHgate. But it is advised that you proceed to do this after you have an audience.
What do You Need to Start Earning?
It is a bit unfortunate that you can’t really expect to start earning the moment you begin blogging. You will need two things before you can consider earning consistently:
- to have consistent traffic on your website
- a dedicated community of followers
If you do not have these, you cannot consider the options of earning I have previously mentioned. So, it is almost mandatory that you constantly keep posting content to ensure both of these things.

What you need is dedication. If you think you are going to earn a lot in one month, I must disappoint you. It’s not making money fast scheme. There are many false promises out there.
But it’s consistent blogging which will build trust among those who read your articles and who would want to come back to your site again and again. It takes time to build trust and see the rankings of your articles.
